Citlali Arroyo

"At NEIU I was a McNair scholar, and it was the catalyst for a successful venture into research opportunities through higher education partnerships. My research interests include the sociolinguistics of dual language education, culturally relevant pedagogy and urban education, and teacher preparation.

I am a 2016 À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ alumna. I graduated cum laude with both my Bachelor's degree and Master of Early Childhood Education from Boston College in 2020.

In my current profession, I am a third year kindergarten dual language teacher in CPS, and an Erikson Institute Research Fellow, for anti-racism in early math education. Previously, I have worked in a Chicago aldermanic office, taught in Boston Public Schools, and worked as a professional writing tutor for Oakton College and the NEIU Center for Academic Writing.

Aside from my curricular interests I have organized demonstrations and vigils for victims of police brutality, organized grocery distribution in the northwest side, and volunteered with Chicago Books to Women in Prison. Finally, my favorite things to do include discovering new authors of speculative fiction, playing video games on easy mode, and painting."
