��ݮ��Ƶ students presented research at the Illinois Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (Illinois LSAMP) and eight earned awards for their research! Womxn’s HERstory Month wraps up, the Department of Student Success and Retention hosts their first Spring into NEIU: Transfer Student Survival Guide event and several more virtual activities are scheduled. ��ݮ��Ƶ has joined the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), a collection of more than 2,100 colleges and universities committed to expanding students’ access to educational opportunities by providing more efficient, consistent and effective regulation of online learning programs. Joining SARA is voluntary, and participating institutions agree to follow the Interregional Guidelines for the Evaluation of Distance Education Programs for best practices in postsecondary distance education.

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded an $873,000 grant to the Prison + Neighborhood Arts/Education Project (P+NAP). The ��ݮ��Ƶ  Foundation will serve as the fiscal sponsor for the grant, which will be distributed over the next two years. 

The Illinois State Historical Records Advisory Board Historical Records Grant Program has awarded ��ݮ��Ƶ a $5,000 grant to digitize the archives of former Illinois Congressman and Northeastern alumnus Luis Gutiérrez. The award is the highest amount a project can receive.

In this week’s edition of Noteworthy at Northeastern, Professor Chielozona Eze discusses his new book, “Justice and Human Rights in the African Imagination: We, Too, Are Humans.” Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month and Stress-Free Zone activities continue throughout April. Plus, learn about forest bathing as a form of self-care and a great way to celebrate Arbor Day.

After a thorough national search, ��ݮ��Ƶ has named Dr. Terry Mena as its new Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students. He will start on Feb. 22.

��ݮ��Ƶ is pleased to announce NEIU For You, a brand-new, one-time scholarship that covers tuition and mandatory fees for a full year for incoming first-year, full-time undergraduates and the cost of a three credit hour course for all new undergraduate transfer students who register for six credit hours or more for Fall 2021.

Nine ��ݮ��Ƶ students presented their research at the Illinois Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (Illinois LSAMP) virtual spring symposium on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Eight students won awards for their poster presentations.

In an effort to make applying to college easier, ��ݮ��Ƶ and all 12 of the state’s public universities will become part of the Common Application (Common App) for college applications starting August 2021.
