À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ awarded $275,000 grant from USDA-NIFA

The U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA) has awarded À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ a $275,000 grant to support its agriculture science engagement at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI). Northeastern is one of 26 institutions in the United States—and the only institution in Illinois—to receive this grant. It is Northeastern’s fourth USDA-NIFA grant and its fifth USDA grant overall.

A Breakout Star in Biology

Phu Duong’s career in biology is well underway.

After successfully defending his master’s thesis at À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ over the summer, he has begun a Ph.D. program in Cell and Molecular Pathology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There, he hopes to become involved in the field of epigenetics, which is the study of changes in gene activity that are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence. Translation: The guy is smart.
