Northeastern establishes Social Justice Leadership Housing Award for incoming freshmen, transfer students

ݮƵ has launched the Social Justice Leadership Housing Award, President Gloria J. Gibson announced on June 24. The award is a new leadership program for students who positively impact their university, career and communities. Students participating in the program will be given one year's free housing in The Nest, Northeastern’s on-campus apartments, while taking a first-year seminar during their first semester and while participating in a series of leadership workshops during their second semester.

ݮƵ Assistant Professor of Educational Inquiry and Curriculum Studies Sunni Ali published his third book, “Lessons Learned: Critical Conversation in Hip Hop and Social Justice.”

Northeastern Teams Up with Amundsen to Build High School of Choice

Following a charge from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to improve the city’s neighborhood public schools, ݮƵ quickly became a resource for nearby Amundsen High School. As the new principal of Amundsen, Ana Pavichevich brainstormed ideas to help turn her school around. She quickly recalled the quality faculty and graduates of Northeastern’s College of Education and approached the University for assistance.
