Advisors

Advisor Amie Jatta (left) meets with a student in her office.

Each student in the Goodwin College of Education (GCOE) is assigned an advisor for
personalized academic and career guidance. Your advisor will assist with course selection, major
decisions, job options, and addressing challenges like licensure, transferring courses, or
accessing support services. Regular meetings, virtual or in-person, occur before you register for
classes. For the best advising experience, please openly discuss your goals and concerns with
your advisor.

To contact a GCOE advisor, see the details below. For further assistance, reach out to the Office
of the Dean. The Dean’s Office is located in Lech Walesa Hall (LWH), Room 4044. It is open
Tuesdays–Thursdays, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Alternatively, send an email to gcoe@neiu.edu or call
(773) 442-5500.

Undergraduate advisors are full-time professionals who are committed to supporting each student in developing and implementing an individualized plan for academic success and career development. Undergraduate advisors are available for each major in the college.

Typically, graduate advisors are faculty members who provide individualized guidance and support about how to achieve academic and career goals within a specific graduate degree program or major.

The College of Graduate Studies and Research updates the comprehensive list of Northeastern graduate advisors each semester. See the entire list, including the individuals responsible for graduate advising in the Goodwin College of Education.

If you need assistance locating a GCOE graduate advisor, please contact the Office of the Dean. The Office is located in Lech Walesa Hall (LWH), Room 4044, and is open from 9:00-5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. On other days, and at any time, you can contact the office by email at gcoe@neiu.edu and by phone at (773) 442-5500.

The Advising Center offers general advising to undergraduate students who have been admitted to Northeastern. Advising is available for both first-year students and undecided transfer students with less than 45 credit hours completed. Undergraduate education majors who have just been admitted or who are in their first year of study should consult with the Advising Center before connecting with their professional advisor in the Goodwin College Of Education.
