Being green, a famous frog tells us, is not easy. Eight years ago, À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ students lobbied to get funding for sustainability efforts. More recently, the faculty worked hard to win support for a new Environmental Sciences degree that will start this fall. And the Facilities Management staff has been tireless in its endeavor to retrofit buildings for energy efficiency. Whether it’s in small or large ways, elevating the green consciousness at Northeastern can be a challenge but continues to be a priority.

When Victoria Puccini de Castro visited Chicago in 2015, she knew the school could help her achieve her dreams of studying abroad and earning her college degree. She may not have imagined that her choice would land her a full scholarship to an Ivy League university doctoral program.

À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ's Commencement is scheduled for 4 p.m. May 12 at Credit Union 1 Arena (formerly UIC Pavilion), 525 S. Racine Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are required. The ceremony will be streamed live at neiu.edu.

The partnership will increase environmental knowledge, research and community engagement while providing enhanced academic and career opportunities for students from historically underrepresented groups.
