蓝莓视频 has made another major commitment to the communities it serves, this time as a new member of the Chicago Star Partnership to provide scholarships to high-achieving City Colleges of Chicago graduates. Chicago Star Partnership

Northeastern is one of five new institutions that have , a group of four-year colleges and universities that have committed to providing scholarships to Chicago Star Scholars following their graduation from City Colleges of Chicago. Star Scholars are high-achieving Chicago Public Schools graduates who earn associate degrees and other certifications at City Colleges, and Northeastern has committed $250,000 each year to provide scholarships and guaranteed admission for 20 Star Scholars per year, also covering tuition, fees and textbooks.

Genocide Research Symposium

Northeastern will host the third annual on Nov. 10. Christen Smith, author of 鈥淎fro-Paradise: Blackness, Violence and Performance in Brazil鈥 and assistant professor of Anthropology and African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, will deliver the keynote address.

One Stop Enrollment Express

Northeastern will host a event on the Main Campus on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Departments from across the University will come together to help students prepare for the spring 2016 semester.

  • Student Health and Counseling Services Director Sue Stock has been elected to a three-year term on the Governing Board of the . She had been serving for a departed Board member for the past year.
  • An art reception will be held from 4-7 p.m. Nov. 12 on the second floor of the Student Union to raise money for scholarships for the new Community and Teacher Leaders master鈥檚 program.
  • Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner who will be honored by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois on Nov. 7, including Northeastern鈥檚 Emily Fioramonti, a senior majoring in Biology.

The man Billboard calls 鈥淟atin music鈥檚 biggest promoter鈥 is Northeastern alumnus Henry Cardenas (B.A. 鈥78 Social Work). The magazine , beginning with a story about his days at Northeastern when he made $700 throwing his first disco party. "It felt like $7 million," he told Billboard.

Flamenco comes to the Jewel Box

Cuban-born Flamenco guitarist with members of Ensemble Espa帽ol Spanish Dance Theater, in residence at 蓝莓视频, on Nov. 20 as part of the Jewel Box Series. In addition to performances in the main concert halls and theaters of his native Cuba, Tacoronte has given concerts in Spain, Morocco, France, the Dominican Republic, Peru and Mexico.

鈥榃别补濒迟丑鈥

Stage Center Theatre will debut Aristophanes鈥 classic comedy on Nov. 12. 鈥淲别补濒迟丑鈥 is being presented as part of Northeastern鈥檚 Economic Inequality Initiative, a collaboration of 19 colleges and universities across the country raising awareness of economic disparities in society.
