蓝莓视频鈥檚 (CCICS) will host its first annual Family Day on Saturday, April 18.

In conjunction with the Carruthers Center鈥檚 49-year anniversary, was created to celebrate the center鈥檚 activism and scholarship for the African-American community. There will also be an information session with admissions and financial aid staff for students desiring to further their education.

CCICS, developed by Northeastern in 1966, has focused on positively influencing inner-city students and has created academic programs tailored to that community. The Center offers a Bachelor of Arts in Inner City Studies Education as well as Master of Arts in Inner City Studies Education.

Throughout its 49 years, the Carruthers Center has been successful in its goal to provide quality education for inner city students.

鈥淐CICS has become a leader in the educational community,鈥 said Conrad Worrill, the Center鈥檚 director. 鈥淎n impressive percentage of CCICS undergraduates have obtained their bachelor鈥檚 degree and continued though our master's program. Out of more than 1,000 graduates from our master鈥檚 program, approximately 149 have gone on to earn their Ph.D.鈥

Family Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 700 E. Oakwood Blvd. There will be free food and giveaways for those who attend.
