Literacy Center

Reading Teacher with Student

The NEIU Literacy Center is operated by the Literacy Education graduate program. Current graduate students enrolled in their Literacy Education Practicum courses are the teachers (tutors) in this program. All assessment and instructional sessions are supervised by a Literacy Education faculty member.

  • In this program, children and adolescents receive a comprehensive assessment of their current reading skills, and are provided with individualized instruction to expand those skills.
  • The Literacy Center serves students from grades 2-12 who are reading below grade level or experiencing reading difficulties.
  • The cost of the program is $150 for the term.

Our Summer 2025 program is currently full. Please check back on July 15th for a link to our Fall application. Fall sessions will take place on the main campus on Saturdays (9:00-10:30 for younger students; 10:45-12:15 for older students).
